The real Karl Warren
08 6th, 2007

Newbies, oldies, middleies…

See those stars to the left, and the post count.

Do you know what they mean? They mean I talk a lot.

I read MY name in somebody’s ebook, he said that I
was a veteran marketer…

The truth?

I became a MARKETER about 4 months ago, when I finally
gave myself a stern talking to and turned my internet
pursuits into a BUSINESS.

I had been consistently making about $800 per month
online, however, that is not my goal…

My goal is total financial freedom.

Here’s my story (if you’re interested)

—————————————-
Karl Warren… The story so far!

5 years ago I started affiliate marketing by accident…

At the time I didn’t know what affiliate marketing was - but
set up a directory website from which to sell advertising
space. I was selling spaces for $150 per year and sold a
few, but it was hard to get advertisers with a fairly empty
directory.

I stumbled upon Commission Junction (I think) and Trade
Doubler and began adding affiliate links to the directory
to fill it up a bit.

I gave that up after a while due to work commitments…

Oh, how much further along I’d be if I hadn’t! I’m
100% sure I’d be earning a 7 figure income by now.

Then, around 2 years ago - I bought a make money
guide off ebay - found it to be only a list of
clickbank links and wondered what they were.

I bought one of the products from within and then
realised what clickbank was…

Flashback!!!

Wow, i’ve done this before - and I used to love it.

Fumbled about a bit, buying ebook after ebook…

Began to believe the hype about how easy it is to
make $100,000s by selling ebooks and made a CRITICAL
mistake…

I left my job.

“My $100,000 day is just around the corner…”

That’s what I kept telling myself as I lived off
my credit cards.

“I’ll be able to pay them all off soon…”

I kept kidding myself.

“I’ll consolidate”

So I did, but I then carried on spending on my
newly cleared credit cards…

Wind on a few months.

I’m flat broke and in debt!!! With no job to
make the repayments.

What now?

Sell stuff on eBay…

Sold about $2000 worth of stuff on ebay to
make the minimum payments on the cards and
loan.

I’ve exhausted all lines of credit, I’ve been out
of work for a few months. I’ve earned next to
sweet F.A. (or nothing for those of you who don’t
know the term.) I’m juggling credit cards like
an octopus on speed.

All through this time I’m jumping from method to
method trying to make money online…

One option…

Get a job!!!

THAT was a turning point in my IM career.

I found a job I LOVE, one that pays the bills, one that
I’m good at and earn a basic salary PLUS commission (my
favourite kind)

It gave me the financial freedom to GROW an internet
business, instead of kidding myself that I can make
quick bucks.

Once I got the credit cards and loan under control with
a repayment plan (agreed with the companies involved,) I
started from scratch.

I took a pen and paper and made notes on what I’d learned
throughout this time… what my skills were… what assets
I had.

I wrote a plan!!!

Without the pressure of debt repayments that I couldn’t
afford, I could think for the first time…

I became the creative person that I had once been.

One of my revenue streams is minisite design - something
I’d taught myself as a freelance graphic designer 3 years
ago while I was living in London (I’ve always been one
to have a part time business while working a full-time
job)

This part of my business is now my core activity, something
I truly love to do and I am fortunate enough to be good at
it…

Now that this section is making me good money, I’m able to
add complimentary revenue streams to it.

The future:

Exponential growth is the future for my business, I’m now
focused, have the plan in place, know EXACTLY how to make
money and do it every single day…

The credit debt I amassed during my ‘learning’ phase is
shrinking daily and life has never been so good.

Struggling warriors, new marketers and the disillusioned…

If I can do it - YOU CAN TOO!

Betcha never knew all that about me… ;)

Do I consider myself a success?

YES - because I’m doing something I love, have TWO full
time incomes and I’m about 12 months away from total
financial freedom (and sitting on a beach all day)

If you take ANYTHING from this post…

Please FOCUS on your BUSINESS, and work to a PLAN!
